  • Significant capacity expansion until 2022
  • Expanding leadership in a growing market

Monthey, Switzerland – July 19, 2019 – BASF is increasing production capacity for Tinopal® CBS optical brighteners at the company's Monthey site. A double-digit million euro investment in existing plants will be used to increase capacity stepwise until 2022. The first additional capacities will come on stream in 2021.

“We are making this investment to enable us to meet globally increasing customer demand,” said Soeren Hildebrandt, Senior Vice President, Home Care, I&I and Industrial Formulators Europe, BASF. BASF's Tinopal® CBS offers its home care and I&I industry customers a high-performance and sustainable solution for dazzlingly white laundry. “We convince our customers by above all providing a product of outstanding quality, while continuing to fulfill our role as a pioneer in this growing market,” Hildebrandt said.

Tinopal® CBS is used in liquid and powder detergents, single-unit dose, and I&I products. The optical brightener lengthens the useful life of textiles as Tinopal® CBS gives brilliant white results even at low temperatures and with short wash cycles. Tinopal® CBS is ideal for use in innovative product formats such as highly concentrated liquid detergents and single-unit-dose. What is more, Tinopal® CBS-X meets EU Ecolabel criteria.

In response to high demand, BASF invested in an extension of the manufacturing facility for optical brighteners in Monthey as recently as 2017. That investment included the installation of a state-of-the-art drying tower and a highly automated packing line.
